Last night, my husband and I settled in to watch the new action thriller, The Fall Guy, which recently became available in digital format from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Released on May 21st, this version includes a never-before-seen extended cut with an additional 20 minutes of footage packed with more action, humor, and stunts.
The film is directed by real-life stuntman David Leitch, known for his blockbuster hits such as Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. With The Fall Guy, Leitch delivers his most personal film yet, blending over-the-top action and jaw-dropping practical stunts with a mix of comedy and a touch of romance.
Colt Seavers’ (Ryan Gosling) job as a stuntman involves enduring gunfire, crashes, explosions, and even being set on fire. Following a near-fatal accident on set, Colt temporarily leaves the stunt world to work as a valet. Unexpectedly, he is pulled back into the profession to locate Tom Ryder, the star of a big budget studio movie, whom he performed stunts for in the past. This opportunity also reunites him with Jody Moreno, Colt’s ex. As Colt navigates his daring stunts and rekindles his relationship with Jody, he finds himself entangled in a dangerous criminal plot.
Inspired by the hit 1980s TV series, The Fall Guy also features Emmy® winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise), and Academy Award® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once). The film is executive produced by Drew Pearce, Entertainment 360’s Geoff Shaevitz, and Glen A. Larson, the creator of the original Fall Guy television series.
With a screenplay by Hobbs & Shaw writer Drew Pearce, The Fall Guy is produced by Kelly McCormick (Bullet Train, Nobody, Atomic Blonde) and David Leitch for their company 87North, as well as Ryan Gosling and Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones, Steve Jobs) for Entertainment 360. Executive producers include Drew Pearce, Entertainment 360’s Geoff Shaevitz, and Glen A. Larson.
