With my love of cookbooks, I was in heaven paging through The Essential Amish Cookbook that recently arrived at the doorstep.  This cookbook includes over 100 recipes with detailed instructions.  The author, Lovina Eicher, has coauthored books in the past, writes a weekly blog, and has had a syndicated column published in 40 newspapers across the U.S.  The Essential Amish Cookbook is Lovina’s first solo cookbook.  I love the color photographs featuring the sumptuous food and the simple life of the Amish community.

This book features breads, breakfasts, salads, main dishes, sweet treats, and more.  There are recipes for home and also a few celebratory, like those saved for a church service or a potluck wedding.  There are some unique recipes in this collection, like Sauerkraut Salad and Dandelion Sour Cream Salad.

I  feel like most of the ingredients are already in my pantry or fridge, which is a huge bonus for me.  You can watch a video on how easy it is to create Blueberry Banana Bread on Lovina’s Amish Kitchen Facebook page.

The Essential Amish Cookbook is available from Herald Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and your favorite bookseller.
