The Emoji Movie was available on digital starting October 10 and recently out on Blu-ray + digital and DVD with the release date of October 24 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This movie has an interesting storyline. It takes you to Textopolis, a secret city in your smartphone where emojis live.
The smart phone we follow in the story is owned by a boy named Alex. His phone starts doing weird things on its own, almost like it is glitching. This is while he is trying to connect with a girl named Addie for the first time so very bad timing.
The emojis of Textopolis hope to be selected by Alex. Each emoji showcases one expression except for Gene (T.J. Miller), an emoji who is to be just meh, but has multiple expressions. Having more than one look causes problems for Gene so he has Hi-5 (James Corden) and a code breaker emoji, Jailbreak (Anna Faris) help make him just meh by re-writing his code, but getting to this point is no simple task. While this journey goes on, the glitching concerns Alex so much that he has contemplated having his phone serviced, and with that, deleting all existing materials, including Textopolis!
My children were excited to see a copy of The Emoji Movie arrive at our doorstep. This title has a bit of bathroom humor, but it shows how important forming new friendships can be in our lives and how teamwork and determination can help you go far.
THE EMOJI MOVIE features an all-star voice cast including T.J. Miller (How To Train Your Dragon) as Gene Meh, James Corden (“Late Late Show with James Corden”) as Hi-5, Anna Faris (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) as Jailbreak, Maya Rudolph (Big Hero 6) as Smiler, Steven Wright (Louie) as Mel Meh, Jennifer Coolidge (American Pie, Legally Blonde) as Mary Meh, Jake T.
