My two girls have been good at sleeping through the night outside of trying to delay going to bed with excuses they have concocted. My son, at almost four, is okay at going and staying in bed initially, but has recently experienced good and bad spells again in regard to sleeping through the night. Right now he is battling a bug and so he woke the last few nights from feeling yucky. We were kindly offered elo™ to try to help him get a better night’s sleep.
What is elo™?
elo™ is mom created, kid loved, and doctor endorsed bedtime sleep system. It is to aid in developing your child’s bedroom routine and its goal is to promote falling asleep independently. This pillow starts to play stories once the child has their head down resting on the pillow and stops if their head is lifted. The child relaxes and can go to sleep.
The sleep system includes one pillow, 5 pre-loaded stories, music, white noise, Guide for Effective Bedtime Routine Using elo™ book, elo™ manual, and 6 AA batteries that are already inserted in the pillow. There is a small paper tab to pull out of the battery case before initial use. You can purchase an elo™ pillow case that is sold separately.
The elo™ pillow has built-in WiFi to wirelessly download more stories to it and customizing playlist. I tried pairing my Android smart phone with elo™ and initially it wouldn’t complete syncing. I then set up my account online and registered elo™. I tried again to pair up and it then had not problems syncing.
You can select stories or SleepLists™ as they are called, which are customized to your child’s age and interests, like Goodnight Moon, Clifford, or even The Berenstain Bears. Each SleepList™ has an opening sound, four stories, and then a closing sound for $6.99 each and last about 30 minutes. They can be purchases on elo’s website by credit card. I don’t know if it will ever be available with elo™, but I think it would be fun to have the option for the parent or guardian to record stories that could be added to a PlayList™ for the child.
This product is hypoallergenic, cuddly, a bit smaller for little heads versus a standard pillow, and very portable. Lastly, elo™ is doctor and sleep expert approved.
With elo™ containing electrical components, the included washable cover can be removed easily and washed by hand or machine washed cold. The inner pillow can only be wiped down with a damp cloth to not damage the component.
elo™ has a built-in on/off button and a soft green light that illuminates in the area of the power button, which is located on the underside. Once turned on and the PlayList™ has started, the child will hear “Lay your head down to hear the rest of the story” a few seconds after lifting their head. If you child does not bring their head down for several minutes, elo™ will automatically turn off. You can turn it back on with the button on the underside. It always starts again at the beginning of the SleepList™ when turned back on. When the SleepList™ has finished playing, elo™ will turn off by itself. You can also power off with holding the on/off button down for 6-7 seconds.
My daughters fight over nights they get to use elo™ because they enjoy it so much. My little guy loved the idea at first, but I think the volume of the intro tune and having his head directly against the pillow at the time surprised him. It was louder than expected. elo™ was quieter when the story started, but he had already made up his mind that it was going to stay loud throughout and has declined trying elo™ again. I hope to try and order a PlayList™ with a car story soon, which he loves, and will try elo™ with him when he is feeling better. The volume of elo™ can be controlled by logging into the elo™ website.
elo™ currently sells for $149. I don’t know how long it will last, but you can use promo code SAVE30 to save $30. This product is recommended for children ages 2-9. elo ™ is the first product of Edia, which is a company based in Minneapolis, MN. 🙂
