Tessa, who owns Glam Art, was so gracious to send us a box of goodies featuring Do-A-Dot markers and activity books for my girls to try and explore. Do-A-Dot Art is recommended the age of three years and above.
To create Do-A-Dot Art, the markers just need to be shaken well, removing then the cap. Invert bottle and press sponge tip on paper to start flow. Then dab tip on paper to create dots. Sliding or dragging will damage the sponge applicator tip. They look like a bingo dabber, but are non-toxic and washable. No need for cups or brushes with Do-A-Dot projects. The color names are printed in easy to read letters and in the color they contain along the side of the marker. The bottle size seems great for a toddler to grip and hold.
My children are not always so good about putting the cover on right after use. It is nice that the applicator tip can be rinsed with cold water and then to dab on blank paper to get out the excess water. Then good to go again. The markers are 5″ and contain 2.5 oz. of paint. I read some reviews saying the red would not come off children’s skin or clothing. I did not have a problem washing the color off skin. It does state on the instructions that the fluorescent markers may stain clothing and surfaces. The rainbow and shimmer color sets, which we used, are machine washable for most fabrics.
We have used the activity books frequently. The pages are thicker than a regular coloring book and are perforated so you can display your child’s artwork. The instruction sheet suggests many other activities with the Do-A-Dot markers, which we have yet to try. Some of the suggested activities are: tie-dye art with the markers covering an entire coffee filter that is then misted with water to bleed and dry, drawing with white crayon on paper and then paint over designs with Do-A-Dot markers to create a one of a kind design, to name a few.
