Tastefully Simple Sweet and Smoky BBQ Seasoning

Tastefully Simple sells this awesome Sweet & Smoky BBQ Seasoning.  It’s very versatile and naturally flavored.  You can use it to sprinkle on an assortment of meats, rub into the meat for extra flavor, or even use to make a liquid marinade.

I ran across a recipe on Pinterest for homemade potato chips and thought Tastefully Simple Sweet and Smoky BBQ Seasoning could add a new twist to the recipe.  The recipe I used for D.I.Y. Homemade Potato Chips was from “Picture Perfect Meals“.

The ingredients I used were:

  • Red Pontiac potatoes, scrubbed and peeled
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Tastefully Simple Sweet and Smoky BBQ Seasoning

The original recipe called for Yukon potatoes, which I did not have on hand.  They typically provide a buttery flavor to dishes.

Ingredients
  1. 6 Medium Red Pontiac Potatoes
  2. Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  3. Tastefully Simple Sweet & Smoky BBQ Seasoning
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Apply olive oil with plastic bristle pastry brush to two large baking sheets.
  2. Have a large bowl handy with ice and water. Use a mandolin to slice the potatoes into approximately 1/8" thick chips. Place the sliced potatoes into the icy water to prevent browning immediately after slicing. Then drain the potatoes and dry well with paper towels.
  3. Place the potatoes in a large bowl and gently coat with Tastefully Simple Sweet and Smoky BBQ Seasoning and olive oil. Make a single layer of the sliced potatoes on baking sheets.
  4. Bake the potato slices until they are cooked crisp, about 20 to 30 minutes. The chips should be flipped once while baking and it works well to rotate the pan before putting it back in the oven.
  5. Place paper towels under and on top of the chips to help absorb excess oil on them and sprinkle with extra Tastefully Simple Sweet & Smoky BBQ Seasoning while they are still hot and as you so desire.
  6. Makes approximately 4 servings.
