On December 8th, 2012, my family and I got to participate in a wonderful opportunity. We got to view Disney on Ice “100 Years of Magic” at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. I owe my gratitude to Kelsey and Hallmark for this opportunity. Hallmark is a sponsoring the nationwide Disney on Ice tour.
My daughters needed to take a last minute potty break so we didn’t catch the very beginning, but walked in to see Aladdin and the Genie pictured above.
Marlin and Dori interacting with big ol’ Bruce, the great white shark, from Finding Nemo.
“100 Years of Magic” features 65 of Disney’s characters from18 stories. I was a little worried that my son who will be two on Dec. 28th would not sit for the show. He was mesmerized by the lights, singing, and beautiful costumes. My daughters had fun telling my husband and I the names of the characters as they came out on the ice.
The Disney Princesses, like Mulan, put on some impressive moves.
Toy Story marched on.
The ice filled with skaters in dazzling costumes representing those from around the world in It’s a Small World.
Who could not love Mickey Mouse, Donald, and Goofy?
Pinnochio even battled the giant whale, Monstro, on the ice.
Stitch tries to cause a little trouble by banging an ancient gong.
There was even a giant Chinese dragon on the ice.
The Incredibles were part of the cast.
The Lion King..
At the end, all of the cast members circled and waved their good-byes.
All of the princesses and princes cheered together.
A few cast members interacted with the audience, like Gepetto and the Blue Fairy.
This was the side of the set that had a show of lights with the castle at the end. My family and I had a great time at the show. “100 Years of Magic” was two acts with intermission, roughly two hours total.
The images shared were taken with my 10 MP camera. They do not do justice to what you will see during the show.
If you get the chance, check out Disney on Ice with your family. The show highlights the fun and excitement of Disney and its magical characters we all treasure.
