My children have had lots of fun sampling ClickBlock Transporation Crew Set over the last several weeks. This product is recommended for children 6 years and above. It includes 78 pieces in total and the majority of pieces connect via magnets.
The 78 pieces include: 26 short bars, 12 long bars, 20 metal balls, 2 LED bars, 18 transportation accessories. There is a plane, helicopter, and train, plus pieces to make various structures.
The magnets are housed at the ends of the included bars. Like any other magnet, there are opposite poles that attract and then same poles that would repel so it helps the child learn a bit about magnetism. There are interlocking grooves at the bar ends to help join the magnets.
This is my hand with a short bar and one of the metal balls. The steel balls can be connected to either end of the bars to help your child design and build. The balls are quite hefty in size.
There are four project plans included in the enclosed manual and your child can create whatever they would like. They are only limited by the number of pieces in the kit. Here is a house-like structure my daughter built with a short slide included. I’d like a house with a slide in it. 😉
The magnets bond very well together. Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting for the structures to keep their shape in play.
My son is under the age of 6. He had fun placing the magnetic bars in the train, plane, and helicopter. He would move them all around the house and has had a blast.
There are 2 LED bars in the kit that are pretty cool. They do not include batteries and each one requires two LR41 batteries to run or a total of four for this toy. It says that they are needed on the box they came in, but I could not find this additional item listed with the website description.
There is a plastic button (below the Phillips screw in pic above) that is compressed to turn the lights on and off. The LED lights go in solid colors and sometimes two colors, and even flash a bit. ClickBlock toys are interchangeable so you can share pieces if you have more than one product.
