This month I was given the opportunity to be an “All Good April Ambassador” for Carrington Farms. They hosted a month-long celebration of all things “good and healthy” by offering special deals/discounts this month on their products. I was sent three of their items last week to try first hand – milled flax seed, odorless and flavorless coconut cooking oil, and unrefined coconut oil.
Carrington Farms Organic Milled Flax Seeds
Carrington Farms Organic Milled Flax Seed is great in smoothies or in hot oatmeal. They can also be added to yogurt, salads, fruit, other cereals, and more. The 14 oz. pouch currently retails for $5.69
Carrington Farms Coconut Cooking Oil
This next product is quite unique – unflavored and odorless liquid coconut cooking oil! My husband does not like the taste of coconut in general so this would be a way for me to use coconut oil often in my household.
Carrington Farms Liquid Coconut Cooking Oil is a great alternative to other oils. It is naturally rich in Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT), actually 5 times the MCT’s of virgin coconut oil. MCT’s are noted in aiding energy production and calorie burning.
I was curious to how the oil stayed a liquid and saw this information on their Facebook page:
The Coconut Cooking Oil remains liquid because it is higher in medium chain triglycerides than regular coconut oil. we take organic coconuts and make them into oil and then break the oil down, remove some of the long chain fatty acids and add more medium chain triglycerides. The MCT’s are more likely to remain liquid at room temperatures. But remember, this is still coconut oil so by putting it in the fridge or leaving it in cold temperatures, it will turn solid. It will, however, remain liquid at room temperatures or warmer. Enjoy!
Coconut cooking oil is non-hydrogenated and free of saturated and trans fatty acids. It is hexane free, solvent free, and packaged in a BPA free bottle. This product can be used for baking and sautéing in temps as high as 350°F. It does not need to be refrigerated.
I used Carrington Farms Coconut Cooking Oil yesterday to make some pumpkin bread and no complaints on any hint of a coconut flavor. I haven’t tried this yet, but it is recommended to use when cooking eggs and popcorn.
They are currently out of stock, but they also make a rosemary and garlic flavored liquid coconut cooking oil. The possibilities seem almost endless with this product! Carrington Farms Coconut Cooking Oil comes in a 16 fl. oz. bottle and retails for $12.99.
Carrington Farms Pure, Unrefined, Cold Pressed 100% Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Carrington Farms Cold Pressed 100% Organic Extra Virigin Coconut Oil is a nutritious oil that is great to use in the kitchen. This oil is simply pressed and bottled to retain its original color, flavor, and nutrients. It can be used in cooking up to 350°F and used as a replacement for butter or other fat.
Extra virgin coconut oil is great to saute vegetables, add to smoothies, etc. I have started adding a spoonful to my coffee in the morning and it makes awesome brownies! My oldest daughter and I like to use it as a lip moisturizer and it can be used on the skin or hair. It is said that it can be used to alleviate bug bites and bee stings also.
This product should be stored in a cool, dry place. It does not need to be refrigerated. Just be aware as the temperatures climb or if you store it near your stove where temps are often warmer, it turns to a liquid at 76 degrees. It goes back to a solid when temps go back down.
A 12 oz. tub of Carrington Farms 100% Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil retails currently for $7.99. As long as you don’t mind the smell and taste of coconut, it is a very versatile product.
