Review:

I don’t know if any of you have been like me, but with not earning a regular paycheck right now, I try do whatever I can to contribute to the family income.  I have to be honest, even with my spouse supporting our family, I like to have a little money from a garage sale or other odd jobs to feel like I am still contributing.

Now with that being said, I have pondered from time to time what it would be like to have a flexible schedule, time to take care of my children, and yet contribute more regularly to the family.  I have played with ideas of starting a business or pondering what the first steps would be in order to bring a new product to market, but I would find myself stuck, not knowing the steps to successfully implement such a plan.  The Barefoot Executive has provided me with some great steps and tips to try and make my desire a reality.

Carrie Wilkerson, the author of The Barefoot Executive has shared similar concerns and has been successful at bringing her family’s income to the next level, making actually now a seven figure income from her home while raising four children!

Carrie was a teacher and when the first two children joined her family, had to make almost an overnight decision of how to become her own boss, raise her children, and get her family out of debt.  All while dropping 100 pounds.  What a great story of personal success.

Carrie talks about doing this for yourself, not chasing someone else’s dream, not going for just the money aspect, and needing to focus on your current strengths and skills, to name a few.  I love the quotes for success used in this book and also the personal stories and tips shared by some influential business people.  Even thought The Barefoot Executive is about 250 pages, it contains knowledge that is easy to digest.  It is a resource to go back to whenever looking to carry out a new business goal.  It has a simple layout for you to follow and is done in a way that helps you be accountable for your own success.
