Review:
I think it is so important to start children off at a young age with being engaged in the act of healthy eating. We need to share knowledge in a fun and unique format, whether it’s helping out in the kitchen peeling vegetables for a meal, planting seeds in a garden, or spending time by sitting down and reading a book to learn more about foods that are good for you.
Healthy Foods A to Z features foods presented as faces that depict different emotions. This read is also bilingual (English/Spanish).
After going through the alphabet of healthy foods, you child can follow a food face template with instruction on how to create their own food face. Wash your hands and create something fun together.
Other activities are also suggested with healthy foods for you and your child to try. You can arrange fruits and vegetables by color, use toothpicks with various healthy foods and make animals, try stamping, and many more.
The last section of this book is for parents to brush up on important nutritional facts and just interesting notes about the healthy foods mentioned in this book. You can then share these facts with young ones or older children can read and learn more on their own.
Healthy Foods from A to Z is a great aid to visually entice children with new and delicious foods. This read also presents new words, provides practice on the letters of the alphabet, shares new facts about nutrition and origins of food with bright and charming faces to amuse kids.
This book would also be a nice resource for early childhood education centers that cover food and nutrition or I think even for some organizations, like the YMCA, who work to share knowledge on nutrition and healthy eating with our youth.
Disclosure: I was excited to have the opportunity to work with One Media Squared and they were kind enough to give me a copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.
