Summer is soon approaching and I’m sure almost everyone has had thoughts of how to be more healthy and maybe even a concern of losing weight. With the thought of shorts, bathing suits, and just showing more skin in general in the upcoming months, eek!
I have had weight issues since my mid-20’s. I was active with marching band and rugby while in college. The physical activity helped keep the weight off, but then I became focused on my career and didn’t always make good food choices. I began to lead more of a sedentary lifestyle too. Now I am focused on raising my young family and find it hard to devote time to take care of myself.
Get Skinny! The 6-Week Body Challenge is broken down into 6 chapters for the 6 weeks of a healthy body challenge and to become more physically fit. The amount of time needed for cardio, circuit training, and stretching seems very realistic and easy to follow. I was a little skeptical about learning a workout from a book versus watching another person, but the black and white images with written descriptions included in this book do a great job explaining the proper way to complete the recommended exercises. There is also a sample meal plan included for both men (1,800 calories) and women (1,400 calories) included.
I really enjoyed the added information on nutrition, like needing to eat light meal two hours before bed so your body doesn’t start breaking down muscle tissue for energy. I had never heard about this before. The personal stories included about Scott and a few of his clients adds a sweet personal touch to keep you motivated each week. It was cool to find that Scott helps others achieve their goals right in my home state, Minnesota.
I highly recommend Get Skinny! The 6-Week Body Challenge for anyone wanting to achieve weight loss or just to become physically fit. This book provides a straight forward approach to achieving your personal goals and helps build confidence, even if you sometimes make a few mistakes along the way.
