The Book of Life

Today is National Reading Day and The Book of Life will be out on Blu-ray/DVD on Tuesday (1/27).  The Book of Life tells the story of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart as he embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears and realize what is important – family and loved ones.  National Reading Day is an annual event, which celebrates and encourages reading by younger children and is celebrated in thousands of schools all around the U.S. 🙂

Fox Home Entertainment kindly sent us a box of goodies featuring The Book of Life to tie family traditions, roots and the importance of honoring the past to embrace the future.  The Book of Life encourages young readers to continue reading and learning in the new year.

I apologize for not mentioning this earlier.  My father-in-law unexpectedly fell ill with pneumonia this week and passed away so I have fallen behind.  When The Book of Life kit arrived on Wednesday, I grabbed the girls off the bus as we were heading in on one of our many trips to the hospital to visit their grandfather and so the items in our kit were great to help break up the time there.

They were even given their own backpacks to keep their goodies in.

We got home and worked on drawing and coloring some more today.

My oldest had fun with the included puzzle too.
