Blue Orange Tell Tale Fairy Tales

July 8, 2012 by Karen

A couple months ago, I had a great time reviewing Blue Orange’s Spot It with my family.  I would like to share their newest addition, Tell Tale Fairy Tales.

This game is truly unique.  You get to make up your OWN story to share with others!  My 5 1/2-year-old is a huge fan yet of princesses and fairy tales and my 3 1/2-year-old just loves a whimsical story.
The recommended ages for this game is 5 to adult.  1-8 players may play the games.  There are instructions for four different games to play with Tell Tale Fairy Tales.
  1. “Storyboard” : Take six cards and put them in the order you would like to tell the story.  May be played individually or in teams of two.
  2. “Round ‘N Round”: Take 4 cards and spend a moment looking at their images.  The first player selects one card and puts it on the table.  This becomes a starting point for he/she to tell a story.  The next player selects a card and adds to the group story.  This can also be played as a team or individual.
  3. “Showtime”: Each player takes 6 cards and places the cards face-down in a pile in front of them without peeking.  One player begins a story by flipping over the first card and continues flipping cards over to add to the story until all 6 cards have been used.  Then the next player begins a new story.  Team or individual option for play too.
  4. “The Stage”:  Cards are shuffled and 24 are placed in a pile at the center of the table.  The first player takes one card and begins a story.  Players take turns picking a card from the stack and adding on the story until all 24 card are used up.

The instructions mention that playing in teams of two can be the best way to encourage young ones to take part and is also a very fun way to play the game.  These games are not meant to be competitive, just to inspire creative story telling and having fun by listening to others.

Tell Tale Fairy Tales comes in a tin like Spot It that is great for storage.  This game would be a great addition to a summer camping trip and sharing some new bedtime stories.  The instructions suggest 10 cards as a good guideline for a bedtime story.  The storyteller may also involve the child in telling the tale.
This game has 60 unique playing cards.  They are printed on front and back for a total of 120 images to use in play, like wizards, princesses, unicorns and dragons.  It also has images of scenery to use in play, dungeons, castles, forests, and much more.
I think Blue Orange’s Tell Tale Fairy Tales is a great way to spend time as a family and spur up some creativity.  I think this game also revs
up an adult’s imagination that sometimes gets boycotted with our busy day to day lives.
Blue Orange’s Tell Tale Fairy Tales has a suggested retail of $12.99 and can be found online, like through Amazon.   There are many other great retailers that you can find by your zip code here.
So share some love with your little prince or princess and have fun creating new stories together.  It will brighten their day.  The End.
