A mom noted the need for something to store her children’s pillows on their outings. Sleepover parties were great for her daughters to attend, but she was amazed how dirty the pillows would be when returning home.
Maria Rosell wanted to create a practical and fun bag to house and protect the pillows, sleeping bags, and other overnight items. She invented the design of the Bombinizz® bag to help protect personal belongings and her mother sewed and constructed the first 150 Bombinizz® on her own. After that, Ms. Rosell bought fabric from different locations in the U.S. and now has the bags made by HG Maybeck on Long Island, NY. The bags are made out of a cotton/polyester blend and can be machine washed cold and hung to air dry.
My oldest daughter has not experienced a sleepover yet, but went to a great week-long camp this past summer and we had to pack up several personal items on a family camping trip right after that. Totes and duffel bags work for some things, but not are a one-size-fits-all solution. Ms. Rosell was looking out a window one day and saw a little bee carrying about some pollen and thought it looked like it was carrying a pollen sack. This inspired her name creation of Bombinizz®, which is named after the tribe name for Bee, “Bombini”, and the ‘zz’s’ were added in respect to the “ZZs” caught from sleeping and also the “zzzz” that bees makes when they fly.
Bombinizz® are available currently in 12 different prints with the possibility of more being added in the future. These bags retail for roughly $20-$30 with a large adjustable strap. They are 29″ x 19 1/2″ in the zippered main compartment and are lightweight. The outer front zippered pocket is 12″ x 12″ with a 3″ x 10″ inner compartment. A few of the prints are one side PU (polyurethane) coated, which is like a waterproof fabric.

Besides functioning as a bag for sleep overs or camping, Bombinizz® may also be used for carrying art supplies, like large sketch books. I remember toting one around during college and fearing a gust of wind would rip it out of my hands or bumping into something or someone while toting the large book, my case of other supplies for a college art class, and a backpack. Bombinizz® also works well for small blankets and other baby items, sports equipment, picnic supplies, or items for the pool or beach.
