Artisan Bistro Frozen Meals Review

IMG_3199It’s been a while since I’ve tried a frozen entree due to the scary ingredients wrapped inside, but Artisan Bistro may be the answer to a convenience food that is still allowing you to eat well.  Their products feature sustainable, free-range and grass-fed proteins with a variety of whole grains and legumes, but not all the added preservatives and additives.  Artisan Bistro entrees are gluten free , non-GMO, and all contain a minimum of 70% organic ingredients.

The Artisan Bistro product line includes meals for one and meals for two. bowls, bakes, and beyond breakfast dishes.  I was sent the following selections:

Roasted Poblano Chicken

IMG_3200The Roasted Poblano Chicken contains free-range chicken that is free of antibiotics, organic black beans, green beans, and brown rice.  It is a meal for two and can be prepared in the microwave or stove top.  I opted for the microwave so it took me under 10 minutes to cook the two separate trays and to allow them a few minutes to cool.IMG_3202The ingredients get a bit blended together from packaging and cooking, but can separated and plated.  Each serving contains 21 grams of protein, 5 grams, total fat, 260 calories, 35 mg cholesterol, 500 mg sodium, and 31 grams of carbohydrates (5 grams are sugars and 6 grams are dietary fiber).  The roasted chicken in fire-roasted poblano pepper sauce was tender and the veggie blend of red bell peppers, green beans, corn yet a bit crisp.  It is also prepared with black beans and brown rice.IMG_3203

Grass-Fed Beef with Mushroom SauceIMG_3201This meal is designed for one.  It can be prepared in a conventional oven or microwave oven.  Grass-Fed Beef with Mushroom Sauce features what’s in the title with a French lentil pilaf and sweet potato vegetable medley. IMG_3223The tender pieces of beef and sides have 23 grams of protein, 350 calories, 13 grams total fat, 50 mg cholesterol, 580 mg sodium, and 32 grams of carbs (4 grams dietary fiber and 5 grams sugars).

Wild Salmon with Pesto IMG_3221A wild sustainably caught salmon filet with pesto sauce is paired nicely with organic garbanzo beans, brown rice, and green bean-zucchini medley in this meal.  This entree for one packs in 16 grams of protein, 310 calories, 18 grams fat, 35 mg cholesterol, 370 mg sodium, and 21 grams total carbs (3 grams dietary fiber, 3 grams sugars), plus is rich in Omega 3’s with the salmon.  This meal may be prepared in the microwave oven or conventional oven.

Artisan Bistro meals are available in natural food stores and grocers throughout Minnesota including Target, Cub Foods, Hudson Country Market, Kowalski’s and more.  To learn more about their fine assortment of products, please visit the Artisan Bistro website.

Disclosure:  I received samples of Artisan Bistro products for this post.  No other compensation was received.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.
