AdoraPet Children’s Books Review

October 18, 2011 by Karen

YiShaun Yang, a former corporate attorney turned entrepreneur, created AdoraPet three years ago as a way to bring joy to children, support their dreams and inspire a love of discovery and reading.  She has created a cute and delightful series of children’s books based on the characters, Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy.  These picture books are recommended for children ages toddler-6, Pre-K +.  Suggested retail is $5.95 each.
I recently received Ballerina Pima Puppy (ISBN 978-1-936729-04-3) and Chefs Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy (ISBN 978-1-936729-03-6) for review.

Ballerina Pima Puppy:

The text has a smooth rhythmatic flow.  This title is 34 pages in length.  It builds excitement as Pima Puppy gets ready to perform on-stage.

At the end of this story, more information is provided on ballet positions and movements with proper pronunciations noted.

Chefs Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy:

This story is 32 pages in length.  Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy are busy in the kitchen preparing salad, pasta, and chicken stew.  They need help creating a dessert and there is an easy recipe included to share and make with young children.  It emphasizes important steps for safety that are adult only, turning on the oven and use of a knife.

Review:

I had fun sharing Ballerina Pima Puppy and Chefs Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy with my children.  This series has a great size, 4.5” x 4.5”. They are perfect for small hands and are easy to take along while on the go. The series is done in hardcover and has colored, hand-drawn images that are friendly and playful. There is an area inside the front cover to easily gift the books with a printed “to: & from:”.  I like that there are also suggested questions for the caregiver to ask the child at the beginning of each book to help involve the child and share in discussion of the book.  I also thought a recipe for parents and children to do together in Chefs Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy was a great touch.
There will also plush toys available for purchase that go along with the stories:

Each book will have an optional plush puppy.  A book with plush toy has a suggested retail of $20 as a set.

AdoraPet's Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy Visit The Dentist Book
AdoraPet's Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy On The Farm Book

AdoraPet's Pima Puppy and Pico Puppy's Pirate Adventure Book
To celebrate the November launch of this book series, AdoraPet is giving away one book per day for the rest of the year as well as giving away one $100 Barnes & Noble gift card.  Your can enter to win by signing up for AdoraPet’s mailing list.  To increase your chances, your can also get one extra entry each by liking AdoraPet on Facebook and/or following on Twitter  and tweeting with #AdoraPetLaunch.  The winners will be contacted via email.
I have received two AdoraPet books for review purposes.  The words and feelings expressed are my own.
