Disclosure: I received a Pyramid Pan to review. No other compensation was received for this post. The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.
I have a unique silicone product to share with you today. The Pyramid Pan is a fat-reducing silicone cooking mat. It was created by Rich Sanita, a divorced dad who was looking for a better way to cook up a convenience meal for his hungry toddler.
The Pyramid Pan is safe for use in the oven and microwave. There are tiny “pyramids” across the cooking mat. Actually, over 500 pyramids per mat! Grease and oil can run off as the food cooks and air is allowed to circulate under it. This leaves the food crispy and evenly heated.
The Pyramid Pan is a large 16.25 x11.5″ cooking mat. It can be trimmed to fit any size, is made of food-grade silicone, and is non-stick. With silicone, I have noticed a slightly longer cooking temp or increasing the recipe temperature 25-50 degrees has helped with results.
I baked some convenience foods the other day on the Pyramid Pan – mini tater tots and battered fish fillets. I think it is pretty much always recommended to turn the fish and so I was surprised when I went to flip and found that both sides were crisp. I was able to continue on with the cooking time and not turn the fillets. The Pyramid Pan is not meant for large pieces of meat, like a whole chicken or turkey, or pieces small enough to fall in between the pyramids.
To clean, the Pyramid Pan can go in the dishwasher for easy clean-up or be hand washed. It can be rolled up for convenient storage.
- Oven safe to 428 degrees
- Dishwasher safe
