Review: The Mommy MD Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great is the fourth book in the Mommy MD series. It features more than 700 tips from 50 doctors who are also moms. These tips are to help you slim down, shape up, fight fatigue, boost mood, look great, and live better. This book is not a medical manual or to be substituted as any treatment prescribed by your doctor.
The Mommy MD Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great features many tips, but they are pretty basic, like don’t eat processed foods, limit/eliminate sodas and sugary coffee drinks, get enough rest, etc. A few of the doctors have varying opinions too, like eliminate sweets completely or just to take everything in moderation. I agree with the latter. The tips by the doctors featured are written in a way that is like you are chatting with your girlfriends and not like you are being preached to.
The recipe chapters though look awesome! There are quick and hearty breakfast ideas, main dishes, and snack/appetizer ideas to sample with your family. A sampling from the first recipe chapter include Egg Muffins, Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip, Sa-Weet Potatoes. There is a separate chapter to help feel great and boost energy with quite a bit of variety and flavor too.
I haven’t had my Kindle for very long and I just got the basic Paper White, but I’m not sure how to apply some of the checklists included in this title, which I think would be nice to use. Maybe connect the device to my computer, try to view file, find the worksheet, and try to print screen or re-type them in Word? They are for tracking exercise, food consumed, daily menu planning, etc.
The Mommy Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great can be read in sections and you can jump around to learn of its benefits. There are recommended products, apps, and websites sprinkled through this book so it is nice to have a pen and paper handy to jot them down and look them up. The recipes are wonderful, I was just hoping to learn a bit more new information from the included tips.
