Mini Pancakes #564
Pancakes are a meal that my family likes regardless of what mealtime it is. It’s not just a breakfast food in my household. Schwan’s has mini pancakes that meet their Live-Smart standards for fat, calories, and sodium so you don’t have to feel guilty about enjoying them. 12 mini pancakes (hotcakes) have 2.5 grams fat, 230 calories, and 460 mg sodium. There are about 60 mini pancakes per box and about 12 mini cakes per serving.
To prepare, you can use the microwave or oven. The oven method is placing 6-12 mini pancakes on a baking sheet and heating for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. There were a few mini cakes broken in the bag, but they heated with no issues.
To prepare in the microwave, place 6 mini pancakes on a microwave safe plate and cook on HIGH for 25-30 seconds.
Schwan’s Mini Pancakes are $6.87 for the 60 count box, which is five servings. They seem to be very kid-friendly, no bowl and measuring utensils to clean and they cook up well. The hotcakes did not seem chewy or dry after heating. I don’t care for cooking everything in the microwave, but the mini pancakes were very convenient and a life saver for little ones who haven’t developed patience. Schwan’s Mini Pancakes may be located on p. 35 of Schwan’s Shopping Guide Sept.-Oct. 2013.
Chicken Alfredo Bianco Flatbread Thin Crust Pizza #684
Mmm….pizza…. Schwan’s Alfredo Bianco Flatbread Thin Crust Pizza has all natural white meat chicken with Grade A spinach, olives, and roasted red bell peppers nesting on a crisp, fire-baked crust. This is then topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, Alfredo sauce, and a herb blend. This product may be used as an appetizer or a meal.
Two pizzas are included with this product. The pizzas may be prepared on the grill or in the oven. I used the oven, but for the grill, preheat it for 4-5 minutes. Remove the pizza from the plastic wrap and place on a double layer of foil on the grill rack. They should cook on low with the lid closed and cook 8-10 minutes.
To bake in the oven, place the oven rack in the middle position. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and remove the plastic wrap from the pizza. Place the pizza directly on the oven rack and bake 8-10 minutes.
I was a bit afraid to just place the pizza on the oven rack with nothing underneath it. I’ve done this with other frozen pizzas and have had a burnt cheese mess on the bottom to clean afterward. I did place one pizza on a silicone baking sheet and the other on a regular baking sheet.
The toppings were soft, but retained a texture of being fresh and the Alfredo sauce was a nice change to red sauce. These two pizzas are four servings. It fed my family of five well, but three of them are children so the portion size may be considered a little bit on the small size.
Schwan’s Chicken Alfredo Bianco Flatbread Thin Crust Pizza was delicious. After baking, the baking sheets did not have burnt cheese on them so they probably would have not caused a mess with going directly on the oven rack. The crust was still crisp, but maybe would have been even a bit more if I did not use the baking sheets.
This product is $8.30 and with being labeled as four servings, it breaks down to $2.08 per serving. This is a seasonal item. Schwan’s Chicken Alfredo Bianco Flatbread Thin Crust Pizza may be found on p. 31 of Schwan’s Shopping Guide Sept.-Oct. 2013.
