Disclosure: I received a copy of Hugo the Happy Starfish: The Last Bully from Tomoson.com in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received for this post.
Review: Hugo, the little starfish, was minding his own business, just swimming through the ocean He then runs into his friend, Clooney the Clownfish, who is being verbally picked on by Bandit the Barracuda. Hugo comforts his friend and then talks to Bandit about respect. He also tells him that there are always bigger fish in the ocean and to watch out because someone will probably treat him like he did to Clooney. Bandit is in disbelief.
In the meantime, Clooney and Hugo form the Anti-Bully Club (A.B.C.) Bandit gets a taste of his own medicine the next day with some name calling from another fish in the ocean. He partners with Hugo and Clooney in the A.B.C. The club finds more supporters as the story continues. They work to spread the message of respect and not to bully with others they meet in the ocean.
The last two pages have a bordered blank rectangle for you child to draw and write their name down as a supporter of the Anti-Bully Club and also a blank page with a black outline for your child to draw and write how they can help the A.B.C. A few words/phrases are included in the story in Spanish with English translation for your child too. Hugo the Happy Starfish: The Last Bully has cute sea creatures that share how it is okay to be different and if someone is being bullied, tell someone about it. And most importantly, treat others as you would want to be treated – with respect.
