Well, we have officially passed the first day of fall for 2011. The leaves in Minnesota are quite attractive in the starting shades of yellows, oranges, and reds. I took some photos with my children recently while we were out in our woods that I wanted to share.

We found quite a few little red berries on the ground. I could not identify them either. Here is a close-up in Layne’s hand.

One of the pumpkins in the garden. Hopefully the applications milorganite keep the deer away. They devoured the pumpkins and squash last year the week before Halloween.
The girls were bummed. 🙁
We have had wild turkeys in the yard almost daily for probably at least the last month. They are fun to watch. It has usually been one or two female turkeys, hens, with what might have been poults, baby chicks, from this spring. The most we have seen together is twelve.
