These locks are perfect for use at the gym, during an awareness walk, or for kids to bring to school for their lockers, sporting activities etc. Master Lock also created a Facebook game that families can play to raise money for the cause.

I recently had the opportunity to review MasterLock Speed Dial that opens on directional movement. It is part of MasterLock’s “pink” security products. This nifty lock opens on single handed control. It comes with a pre-set combination. The combination button slides are UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT. The combination can be re-programmed to any combination, in any sequence, with any length. Just be sure to write the changed combination down and follow it exactly! The instructions say that you can also store your combination at www.masterlockvault.com.
There are free customizable passcode indicators included. See picture below for image.
Pros:
- The SpeedDial seems like a great lock to have when you have only one hand free and in situations where you have poor lighting or don’t have to depend on sight of the lock.
- Helpful for individuals with decreased vision.
- Limitless length of combination for increased security.
- Ability to set your own password.
- Has a nice feel to overall design when positioned in hand.
Cons:
- If you were in a situation where noise was a concern, it makes a little more noise with clicks than some other locks. Sound is decreased if movements are made slowly to complete combination pattern.
- Shackle only swings one direction.
- Optional passcode indicators may come off with repeated use or if they were to be exposed to moisture.
Unknown: What weather conditions can the lock withstand? Does moisture cause it to freeze up?
Another Unknown: There are three screws on the backside of the lock. If you had the correct bits for safety screws, could the lock be opened by just undoing the three screws?
Overall, SpeedDial is a great concept to have a single handed operational lock. It has a great feel and added security with programming a limitless length for its combination. It’s another great way to show your support and help fight breast cancer-“Help Unlock a Cure”!
