Review: Q-Knot Multipurpose Reusable Ties

June 16, 2012 by Karen

I recently had the opportunity to test out Q-Knot multi-purpose reusable ties (original).  This package contains 12 Q-Knots in 3 sizes (4 pieces of small, 4 pieces of medium, and also 4 pieces of large).  It comes in a resealable and recyclable PET bag.
Q-Knot has many uses since it is made of a rubber compound that is enhanced with Neporene, EPDM, and PVC.  It can be used for bundling multiple items, assist in organizing cords, aid in closing plastic bags for bread, chips, and much more.
Key features of Q-Knot:
  •  An intelligent self-locking design
  • Easy to release and reuse
  • Stretchable and flexible
  • Has non-slip gripping “teeth” to give a good hold

Here is the yellow Q-Knot.  This is the small size.  Perfect for food bags, like bread, chips, and so on.  I used it on my bag of chow mein noodles.
The instructions for use are simple:

Step 1:  Insert Q -Knot through the loop.
Step 2:  Pull strap gently to tighten.  To untie, pull on loop end to release.
Q-Knot works really well to organize electrical cords.  Here I have gathered some excess cord from my blender.
I have a storage bin for gift wrap, but for the rolls, Q-Knot makes organization a breeze!

With the warm weather, we like to go on picnics.  Q-Knot helped us bundle napkins in the red (large) and yellow (small) for our eating utensils and as an extra measure,  keeping our picnic basket closed.

Like zip ties, Q-Knot has the ability to be linked together and to extend the overall length.  Q-Knots are easier to remove than plastic zip ties and another plus is that they are reusable.  I feel the Q-Knot Original will not cinch as tight as a plastic zip tie, but still has many uses.
Cautions listed on product packaging:
  1. Do not eat
  2. This product is for indoor and temporary use on bundling suitable object only
  3. Do not over pull; material could tear
  4. Not microwave or oven-safe
  5. Wipe with damp cloth as needed.  Not dishwasher-safe
  6. Choking Hazard.  Not intended for children under 3 years
  7. Do not use if product is cracked, or shows any visible damage
Q-Knot Original is available in a 12 ct (UTW-QK12-01) or 25 ct (UTW-QK25-01)
For a list of where to buy Q-Knot Original, check out http://www.ut-wire.com/buy.html.  Q-Knot Pro is also available.  It has triangular teeth for tighter locking and is UTW-QKP25-01(25 ct) and UTW-QKP12-01(12 ct).  The colors are white (small), wintergreen (medium), and black (large) for the Q-Knot Pro.

About UT Wire

Q-Knot was founded in Anaheim, California, as the founders sought ways to organize their messy and tangled cables. Their idea quickly turned into many other products designed for the everyday people seeking simple, elegant solutions.

Disclosure:   I received Q-Knot Original for this review.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.  No other compensation was received.
