Well-known Steven Spielberg is the director to The Fablemans, which came out to own on digital, January 17, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on February 14 form Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. This film is semi-autobiographical so it gives you an idea of what it was like growing up as Spielberg, Sammy Fabelman.
Spielberg seemed to have an interest in creating movies from very early on. This film shows how Sammy Fabelman started off making home movies of the family and then how he created elaborate amateur films with his friends starting in his teens.
Sammy Fabelman (GABRIEL LaBELLE; The Predator, American Gigolo series) is devoted to filmmaking, an interest that is celebrated and championed by his artistic mother, Mitzi (four-time Academy Award® nominee MICHELLE WILLIAMS). Sammy’s successful, scientific father, Burt (PAUL DANO; The Batman, There Will Be Blood), supports Sammy’s work, but views it as an unserious hobby.
During Sammy’s late teen years, his family moves from Arizona to California. It is during this time that he learns of his mother’s secret, which tears the family apart. Sammy also faces anti-Semitism from the kids in his school.
The Fabelmans also stars SETH ROGEN (Steve Jobs, The Disaster Artist) as Bennie Loewy, Burt Fabelman’s best friend and honorary “uncle” to the Fabelman kids, and Academy Award® nominee JUDD HIRSCH (Uncut Gems, Ordinary People) as Sammy’s mesmerizing great uncle, Boris.
