I was sent their Acids, Bases, & pH Cabbage Chemistry Kit by Yellow Scope that is designed for kids ages 8-12. My son fits this age category so I recruited him to help explore this kit.
This kit includes a 28-page lab notebook with over 19 chemistry experiments your child can take on. Some of the ideas included are making your own pH paper, discovering the pH of everyday liquids, and being able to neutralize acids and bases. Also in the kit are a pair of safety goggles, two tests tubes with concentrated red cabbage powder, seven small measuring cups, a 6-well palette, pipette, 5 filter papers, toothpicks, a pencil, and a collectible pH science pin.
Here is my son working on six common household items and the color change noted when the reconstituted cabbage is added to them. The red cabbage serves as a natural acid-base indicator. It gets added to some household acids and bases to then note how they are differently affected by color.
This kit retails for $24.99. To learn more about Yellow Scope Science Kits, please visit https://yellow-scope.com/.
