Christina Noble grew up in the slums of Ireland in a small apartment with her parents and several siblings.  Her mother fell ill and passed away when she and the other children were quite young.  The children were then separated and sent off to orphanages.

Christina escaped from the orphanage she was at and tried to make it on her own.  She met up with her father and they shared a meal.  Her father made it sound like he was going to reunite the family, but he instead took Christina’s money to supposedly pay the bill and ran.  Christina was left with the bill and again no parent.

This young woman had no money for a roof over her head so she was sleeping in a cemetery.  Unfortunately, one night, a group of men caught her climbing the fence to the cemetary to go off to her little camp and gang raped her.  She was then tossed out like trash.  Christina tried to return to work, but was late.  Her boss was about to fire her and she then collapsed on the floor.

Christina was taken in by nuns and signed a paper when she recuperated.  After that, she was told that she was pregnant and after giving birth, the paper she had signed was unknowingly giving up her child shortly after birth.

This amazing woman kept on going after all of these terrible events and met a man while working at a fish and chips restaurant.  He at first seemed to be her Prince Charming, but later his infidelity and abuse reared its ugly head and she then left to obtain safety for herself and her three children.

This heart-wrenching movie is based on a true story.  Christina Noble waged on after all the difficulties she experienced in her life and aspired to fulfill a vision she had about the children of Vietnam.  She later makes it there and overcomes challenges there too as she works to protect the children.   This story is currently available on DVD.

Winner of six U.S. film festival awards, including the Panavision Spirit Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the powerful biopic drama written and directed by Stephen Bradley is heralded by critics as “raw and genuinely powerful,” “captivating” and “moving.” The Hollywood Reporter calls it “a joyful and rousing affirmation of the human spirit that will resound widely.”

Noble, available on iTunes and On Demand everywhere 9/29, stars Deirdre O’Kane (MOONE BOY, PATHS TO FREEDOM), Brendan Coyle (DOWNTON ABBEY, THE RAVEN, AILSA), Sarah Greene (THE GUARD, THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN) and Liam Cunningham (GAME OF THRONES, HUNGER, SAFE HOUSE).

Disclosure:  I received a copy of Noble to review.  No other compensation was received for this post.
