This product has an easy to read LCD display with three buttons on the front. One button is for Celsius/Fahreheit, the on/off function, and the “hold” function. Once you have pressed the on/off button to turn the unit on, the LCD screen will display the current probe temperature. It defaults to Celsius so you might need to change the setting.
To get a reading, simply insert the thermometer in the thickest part of the food. The “hold” button can be pressed before withdrawing the thermometer from the food. It will continue to display the reading until the “hold” button is pressed again. This unit will turn off after 10 minutes of no use.
The Puna Inc. Instant Read Digital Thermometer comes with a AAA battery that can be replaced. You do not want to leave this thermometer in the oven or grill while the food is cooking.
The metal probe will be hot when withdrawing from the food so do not touch it with your bare hands. You can clean the probe with soap water, but do not immerse the unit in water. The probe can be sterilized by being placed in boiling water for several minutes.
