The most famous reindeer of all is celebrating his 50th anniversary on television with the release of a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Collector’s Edition DVD and Blu-ray that came out on November 4th. Rudolph is digitally remastered with the original tale told and sung by Burt Ives. My eight-year-old annually pulls out her copy of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer for us to view as a family. It’s a fun holiday tradition in our household.
The Collector’s Edition features sing-a-longs, learn-to-draw segments, and amazing facts – Rudolph Unwrapped, Sam the Snowman’s Sing Alongs, Holiday Pop-Up Book, and Be An Artist. You can learn how to draw Rudolph, Hermey, and Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster; share video sing-alongs of the holiday favorites Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Holly Jolly Chrstmas; offer a video version of a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer pop-up book; and experience “Rudolph Unwrapped”, where you will learn 50 little-known facts about the creation of this holiday classic.
Based on the Christmas song of the same name by Johnny Marks and a story by Robert L. May, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was produced by Rankin/Bass in a revolutionary animation style they call “Animagic.” The stylized stop-motion animation brings to life the adventure of Rudolph and his very shiny nose. Although all of the other reindeer laugh and call him names, little do they know that Rudolph and fellow outcasts Hermey and Yukon Cornelius will soon come face to face with the Abominable Snow Monster, journey to the Island of Misfit Toys – and find their way back home just in time to help Santa save Christmas.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition has a suggested retail of $17.99 on Blu-ray and DVD.
Three readers will win a copy of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition! You must be 18+ and a resident of the USA to enter. The winners will be notified by e-mail.
