With our experience of camping from about a month ago, my spouse and I felt like we were packing everything up but the kitchen sink for a single night away from home. We now greatly value the option to take along necessities that don’t take up much space when traveling as a family of five.
I was recently exposed to a space-saving device that is a necessity for camping. It is a lantern that is inflatable, waterproof, shatterproof, weighs only 4 oz, rechargeable, and solar-powered. I forgot to mention that this little unit can be used as a diffused lantern, task light, and a flashlight all-in-one. It is named Luci® and is made by MPOWERD™. This company develops and manufactures micro-solar energy products for people who live and play on and off the grid.
Luci® takes up very little space when deflated. This is the Luci® Outdoor model. There is also a Luci® Lux, which is frosted to work well indoors and outdoors, and Luci® Original.
Once out of the packaging, you can see a durable plastic handle on the top and a port to inflate/deflate.
The solar panels are on the other side with a plastic strap across the center.
The power button (red rubber dot) is under the plastic handle pictured above. It responds to being pressed with the plastic handle on top of it as well as lifting the handle up to activate or shut off.
There are three settings – bright, super bright, and flashing.

We have used the Luci® Outdoor in the house, outside on the deck, and look forward to taking it with on our next camping adventure. Overall, I am surprised how long Luci® Outdoor can operate after a single charge and the overall power of illumination that this little lantern can create.
