Monsters can be such a terrifying thing to little ones. All three of my children have awakened my spouse or I and one point or another because of a noise or something they saw in the middle of the night that was scary. We have had talks to try to alleviate those moments.
Matt and Whitney Hardesty were approached by their nephew who was frightened by monsters in his room. This gave them the idea to create a book for children and parents who were dealing with monsters. Matt wrote Monsters Beware!, which features a boy with a seemingly realistic monster invading his bedroom in the night. With the help of his mother, they search in the room for the monster. The boy remembers his Brave Spray with a magical blend to keep monsters at bay. Then the boy is able to go back to sleep.
I read this to my children and my youngest, who is three, thought the images were a bit scary in the book so we had some discussion afterward about it normal to sometimes feel scared, monsters not being real, and being able to use the brave spray the first time. My five-year-old and seven-year-old thought the story was fine. They all looked forward to misting the Monster Defense in their bedrooms after reading. This story is $6.99 in eBook and $16.99 in hardcover. The spray/book combo is $23.99.
