Nutri-Twist Wow Water is a new flavored water that is free of artificial sweeteners and offers electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals.  There is no high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, or aspartame.  It is sweetened with cane sugar and Reb A (Stevia Leaf Extract).

This product was created on a need.  Peter Andoni, founder of Nutri-Twist Wow Water, has a son who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was seven and sought a healthier beverage option.

All three of my children enjoyed the flavor of the drinks.  They each had their preferred flavor.  Nutri-Twist Wow Water is available in Berry Fusion, Tropical Citrus, and Strawberry Kiwi.  IMG_6266

Nutri-Twist Wow Water Features:

  • Gluten-free
  • Low in sodium (15-40 mg per 10 fl. oz. bottle)
  • Features all natural sweeteners
  • Natural coloring from fruit and vegetables juices
  • 40-45 calories per 10 oz bottle
  • Contains minerals, vitamins, and electrolytes
  • Donates potion of sales to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
  • Caffeine free

Overall, the flavor seemed very appealing with Nutri-Twist Wow Water and I like that they have omitted the artificial sweeteners and colors too.  With the added vitamins and electrolytes, it works well as a sports drink.

I just have one concern with the ingredients as a mom looking out for her children.  Sodium benzoate is an artificial preservative.  It can be found naturally occurring in some foods, but usually it is made in the lab.  If it is in the presence of Vitamin C (absorbic acid), which this product has, benzene, a suspected carcinogen, will form.  Now drinks are supposed to be regulated on the amount of benzene they have in them so it is low and supposedly of minimal risk.  Personally,  I don’t care about a “safe” level.  I would prefer to omit sodium benzoate and find a more natural preservative, even if it increases the cost.  I thought sodium benzoate was one possible aggravator of hyperactive activity in children too.   Sources:  Wikipedia,  Naturally Savvy and Mayo Clinic.
