Last night, my husband and I watched 23 Blast. It’s based on the true story of Travis Freeman (Mark Hapka), a high school hero from a small town in Kentucky. While growing up, Travis lives and breathes football. Everything is going great for Travis and then he is stricken with an infection that takes his sight overnight. He learns to enjoy football from the sidelines and takes time to grieve the loss of his sight and to just adjust to how life now is.
Travis’s football coach knows how much football means to him and asks him to go back on the team and try center. With the love and support of his family, friends, and the strength of his faith, Travis rises to face the challenge.
This is a great story of accepting and excelling with change. I thought this movie was wonderful and I’m not a big football fan. My husband stayed up later than planned to finish the movie and he enjoyed the inspirational story of 23 Blast too.
This movie is rated PG-13 for brief drinking of alcohol on school property by a minor. Run time is 1 hr 42 minutes.
