Disclosure: I was sent samples of Smart Fries in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received for this post.
I am always on the radar for healthy snack options. I received Smart Fries a few weeks ago to test drive with my family. Smart Fries is made by Gourmet Basics.
Smart Fries are air popped potato sticks that contain 2 grams or less of fat per serving. A serving for the most part is 1 oz., which is about 65 pieces!! They are 110 calories per oz.
There are nine flavors and here is my summary of the flavors:
1. Classic Sea Salt – lightly salted
2. Honey BBQ – smoky, sweet, and salty
3. Honey Mustard – sweet and tangy
4. Vinegar Splash – tart and salty
5. Jalapeno Trio – has a nice little kick
6. Vintage Cheddar – cheesy favorite for all ages
7. Garlic and Rosemary – flavorful and garlicky
8. Cracked Pepper and Salt – generously peppered
9. Cinnamon Swirl – sweet treat
My family could not agree on a favorite. My personal favorite was Cinnamon Swirl. My spouse enjoyed the Jalapeno Trio and the Garlic and Rosemary the most. My kids voted Vintage Cheddar was their favorite.
Smart Fries are 100% natural with no artificial additives and no MSG. The oil was listed as non-GMO too. These potato sticks are air popped and then pass through a unique hot air oven. The potato sticks are made of potato, wheat flour, salt, and potassium chloride so they are probably not a good snack choice if you have issues with gluten.
I think this treat is a great option to healthy snacking. You can satisfy a salty craving with eight of the flavors and even tackle craving a sweet treat with the Cinnamon Swirl. Smart Fries have a texture that is light and crunchy and I still can’t get over how large the serving size is! This snack will leave you feeling satisfied.
