Family meals can sometimes be a challenge, especially with the start of the school year.  Parents are busy with work and school activities will soon be added back into the mix if not already.  To speed up the prep for a hearty family meal, Simek’s is here to help.

Simek’s is a Midwest regional company that has its headquarters in Minnesota.  🙂  Their company started in 1972 with 15 meat stores in the Twin Cities.  To make shopping for their products more convenient, the last store closed in 2003.  After that time, their products became available at Cub Foods and other retailers.  They currently sell frozen entrees, meatballs, appetizers, and side dishes that can be found in your grocer’s freezer.

Simek’s carries five varieties of meatballs in three sizes.  They are fully cooked, do not contain preservatives, and the meat used is not mechanically separated.  Did you know that U.S. frozen meatball consumption is up 35% since 2002?

My family and I sampled Simek’s Mini Meaballs over the last few weeks.  They are 1/4 oz. meatballs and each bag has approximately 48-56 mini meatballs.  My husband brought home minis in Simek’s three flavors: turkey, beef, and sausage.

pasta

Pasta with mini meatballs and store bought or homemade sauce can be quickly thrown together and complimented with your choice of salad.  This is a kid-favorite dish in our home and since it is so often requested, we used the turkey and sausage in this manner.

I also placed mini meatballs in spaghetti sauce on a hoagie.  I melted cheese on top for a messy, but tasty meatball sub.

With their charitable arm, Meatballs With A Cause, Simek’s donates a portion of their profits from every bag of Meatballs sold to help provide a child with the nourishment they need. So while you’re warming up dinner, you are also warming up a child’s heart when you buy Simek’s Meatballs.
